About Len Dacombe, P.Eng.

VP Manitoba, VP IT, and Director Winnipeg Lab Operations

Len Dacombe is a professional engineer with 28 years of senior management Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) experience in a diversity of areas including Telecommunications, Call Centres, Agriculture, Education, and Government. Len spent 22 years at Manitoba Telecom Services (MTS) in various capacities, including Operational Systems Specialist, Network Standards and Research Manager, and IP Communications and Technology Development Manager.While at MTS, Len was seconded to TRLabs from 1994 to 1999, where he served as Director, Data Networking & Software and was responsible for establishing TRLabs’ Winnipeg facility and developing the TRLabs Manitoba research program. Len left MTS in 2002 and assumed a Director position at CanTalk Canada Inc., and a Director/CTO position at the Canadian Wheat Board over a three-year period. Len has spent the last three years in Senior Consulting roles in the ICT sector, offering strategic services in ICT related to corporate acquisitions, engineering training, and technology development and deployment.

Len is an active member of the Association of Professional Engineers & Geo-Scientists of the Province of Manitoba (APEGM), the founding Chairman of the Board of the Manitoba Research Network (MRnet), a Past President of the Electronics & Information Association of Manitoba (EIAM), and a former member of the CANARIE Project Advisory Committee. Len continues to maintain a close relationship with the University of Manitoba and has served as an external examiner at the University of Manitoba for B.Sc. and M.Sc. Engineering thesis presentations.
