Dr. Bob Davies is Senior Scientist and research leader for the eHome research program at TRLabs and an Adjunct Professor in the Electrical Engineering department University of Calgary. Bob has been with TRLabs as a research scientist since 1997. Before that he was a senior researcher with TELUS Communications and was assigned to TRLabs as an industry seconded researcher so he has actually been directly involved with TRLabs for almost 15 years.
Bob received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Calgary, Canada in 1988 and 1990 respectively. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Alberta, Canada, in 1999. He has authored numerous publications and has 6 US and 4 Canadian patents in the areas of hybrid optical/wireless systems and high speed electronics.
Bob has broad experience in a number of technical areas including home automation, wireless networks and systems, fiber optic communication systems, optical fiber characteristics (PMD, chromatic dispersion and fiber non-linearity), optical devices for broadband and RF on fiber applications and RF circuit design. Bob has also managed several contract/subscribed research projects for TRLabs industrial partners.
