About Mr. Jim Slevinsky

Jim Slevinsky, Director of Application Architecture at TELUS, leads a team of senior technical consultants tasked with determining the five-year technology end states for TELUS' network and application infrastructures. In his 19 years at TELUS, Jim has had active roles in the voice network special services, R&D, network standards, network architecture and application architecture groups. In addition, during a secondment to TRLabs as an industrial researcher, he was a key contributor to a team developing RingBuilder^TM network design software, and he holds a patent for this work. Jim’s team is currently defining the network, access, and application environment for the TELUS Future Friendly Home. A major area of focus is the specification and selection of IPTV middleware and extensibility frameworks, and in this role, Jim has been an invited speaker at several international industry forums helping to define the future of IPTV. Jim sits on the PMC-Sierra Technical Advisory Board, and serves on the TRLabs Governance Committee. Prior to TELUS, Jim worked as a hardware engineer at Nortel Networks, working as a member of scientific staff on fibre optic transmission, and advanced switching system projects. Jim has a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alberta, and an M.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from that same institution.
