TRLabs welcomes its newest member: Edmonton's Synodon Corporation

February 08, 2000 -- Edmonton, AB - TRLabs is pleased to announce that Synodon Corporation of Edmonton has joined TRLabs as a Small Business Associate (SBA).

Enhancing regional economic growth and developing a strong local information and communications technology (ICT) industry are part of the TRLabs mandate. The TRLabs SBA Program was initiated to provide support to rapidly growing high-tech small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Participants gain access to all TRLabs technologies, facilities and expertise as well as networking opportunities with TRLabs major industrial sponsors, such as TELUS, Computing Devices Canada, Nortel Networks, Lucent Technologies and MCI WorldCom. In addition, they gain a priority opportunity to recruit from a highly qualified group of TRLabs graduates.

Synodon Corporation provides specialized services in the research and development of custom electronic systems for the space market and the industrial market. These services include system design, custom electronics design, software design and implementation and project management. The company recently merged with Luxembourg's RheaTech to become part of an international group of companies servicing the space industry. Now, hardware development will be handled by Synodon Corporation in Edmonton, software development in Spain and systems development and senior support in Belgium. Together these companies provide a complete, integrated package to clients.

Says Synodon President Adrian Banica, "We are looking forward to getting involved with the TRLabs research program. Synodon Corporation has recently become involved with several space-based laser communications programs, so TRLabs expertise in photonics research is particularly attractive to us. Through TRLabs, we will have access to a pool of world class researchers, technologies and facilities."

TRLabs Director of Edmonton Operations Roger Pederson says, "Synodon Corporation will add a new dimension to our research program as the space industry has its own research challenges. We are pleased to have them on board."
