TRTechnologies and OA Internet cut their 'blue teeth' on next generation wireless technologies
May 29, 2001 -- TRTechnologies and OA Internet are biting into the Bluetooth frenzy.
The two companies are jointly developing Bluetooth applications that build on the TRLabs research program in this area. Bluetooth is the long-awaited standard protocol for short-distance bidirectional wireless communication. Once widely accepted, it will allow busy executives to pass through an airport or into a hotel room without checking in, pay a restaurant bill virtually, track loyalty points at their favourite store and send e-mails - all from one Bluetooth-enabled device. OA Internet sees a tremendous opportunity to build its technology portfolio by developing unique applications for this emerging market.
Says Joseph Wu, Vice President at OA Solutions, "As Bluetooth applications evolve and new applications emerge, the market will grow rapidly. By developing technologies now and continually investing in research and development with TRLabs, we will ensure that OA Internet is a major player."
OA Internet (www.oagroup.com/internet), a wholly owned subsidiary of OA Group, is an Internet Service Provider. The company provides clients with Dial up access, high-speed DSL access, its new Airlink wireless high-speed service, hosting services and application and network services.
TRTechnologies (www.tr-tech.com) is a wholly owned subsidiary of TRLabs, Canada's leading ICT research consortium. Through TRTechnologies, members of TRLabs can conduct product development projects that draw on the expertise of TRLabs researchers.
