TRLabs Demo Labs

In a world where technology integration and ICT sector shift to applications and services are trends that will be with us for some time, TRLabs has moved to make its work more visible to both TRLabs partners and the public. TRLabs has been working with its members to showcase their technologies where appropriate and relevant as part of its connector role mandate and to build bridges to future R&D activity and business deals.

Getting technology out of the lab and into spaces that look and feel like more 'real' and natural spaces allows innovators to see vertical R&D activities as a system - raising new possibilities when working with the interaction of various technologies.

TRLabs' eHome demo lab has been in operation for two years. The eHealth Informatics Lab in Winnipeg will be ready for prime-time in early, 2009. The Connected Media demo lab installation is ongoing.

Calgary

Livin Lab Image The 'Livin' Lab' was launched on Dec. 5th, 2007. This lab facilitates R&D associated with integrating disparate home technologies (health, productivity, entertainment, kitchen, etc) to deliver unified solutions in the smart home of the future, and showcases both home technologies developed through TRLabs and TRLabs member technologies.

Winnipeg

The eHealth Informatics Lab simulates a smart (virtual) hospital of the future, and will both facilitate R&D associated with integrating disparate eHealth technologies needed to deliver personalized healthcare services, and showcase eHealth technologies developed through TRLabs. The Lab will be able to simulate a bricks and mortar environment, providing a test bed for either a single or distributed hospital environment.

Saskatoon

The Connected Media Demo Lab will consist of a high-speed network between all of TRLabs’ facilities using local broadband connections to Cybera, SRNet, and MRNet in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba respectively, and CANet4 inter-provincially. This lab will facilitate R&D associated with integrating disparate Next Generation Internet/Next Generation Network technologies needed to realize a ubiquitous cognitive network, and showcase Next Generation Internet/Next Generation Network technologies developed through TRLabs.
