My fifteen years at TRLabs as everything from a student to a director gave me a unique view into both academic research and industry, and the complex relationship between them. Today I’m managing a research group within a product development department in a fast growing Alberta company. I don’t know what could have been better training than TRLabs."

Industry/university collaboration provides a unique environment for training. Graduate and undergraduate students at TRLabs work in teams with other students, staff researchers, professionals seconded from industry partners, and university affiliate professors.

More than 130 students annually participate in the TRLabs applied research program while pursuing graduate studies at TRLabs affiliate universities. Research program content is steered by industry, and graduate students frequently interact with TRLabs industry partners on research challenges.

Along the way, graduate students have access to state-of-the-art electronics equipment and a sophisticated computing infrastructure. A full complement of technical staff is available to provide training and professional advice.

This "hands-on" training environment results in high value skills training and strong employment demand following graduation. 100% of TRLabs graduates have found jobs in the high technology industry or have gone on to obtain advanced degrees. Close to 70% have been hired by TRLabs industry partners.
